3 Ways to Become More Emotionally Agile

Have you ever felt stuck? Like emotionally stuck, hooked, unable to move beyond something? Today, we’re sharing 3 ways to become more emotionally agile, so you can move forward with your life.

To keep growing we need to be open to the unfamiliar and even the uncomfortable. This type of intentional and effortful learning is the way to grow. With that in mind, below are our 3 tips for becoming more emotionally agile.

1. Show up!

Do not ignore difficult emotions or thoughts. Instead face your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors willingly with curiosity and kindness. Make time for questions with the intention of understanding. Once you do this, you’re able to work with them and move on.

 

2. Create space.

Begin to practice detached observation of your thoughts and feelings. Think of this as your ability to step outside and look in. This helps to create an open, non-judgmental space, between our feelings and how we respond to them.

3. Clearly identify your values.

Knowing our values serves as a clear guide so that no matter where we are or what’s going on we have an idea of what to do. When you connect with your real self and what you believe to be important, the gap between how you feel and how you behave closes up. This can help to reduce a lot of internal conflict.
